crazy sickness

rawr! what a way to end a nice holiday

just when i woke up on monday morning... bam!

super headache, fever and stomach ache

i threw up twice in the morning, shows how bad it was >.<

had to go to the clinic just to find out that the queue is 2 hours long

and my medicare claims didn't seem to be on their system

adds more to the headache part, lol

oh well, doctor told me i might have caught on to some kind of virus

gave me 2 days medical leave since it may be contagious

okay, so the good thing about this was..

i don't really have to deal with work, no work.. hm.. no work? lol

screw good, this virus got me confined to my bed, bored as hell and had me eat porridge for 2 entire days!

i'd rather work, lol

MR500 competition 2009

there's a water sport competition going on in bedok reservoir last week

the HP dragon boat team took part in the dragon boat competition

so i kinda spent both saturday & sunday there, lol =P

MR500 event! this is bedok reservoir!

alright! i was actually selected into the competition! lol

well, actually there isn't much of a choice since we're short on rowers =P

okay, so this is the first race of the year, racing distance of 500m

(there are 4 competitions a year, btw)

our team actually participated in 3 categories:

mixed open (20crew), corporate club (20crew) & inter-corp (12 crew)

i was in the mixed open and the inter-corp (team b)

racing for mixed-open on the left, inter-corp team b on the right

we decided to pull out of the mixed open as we decided not to overkill the rowers who are participating in all three categories

oh well, that's one less event for me to be in =P

warming down after race and.. wtf, i look too happy here >.<

the inter-corp team i was in managed to enter finals and got 5th place

okay, so i did not win anything this time around, lol

but the HP team won 1 gold and 1 silver

that's for the inter-corp & corp-club event respectively

we had 2 teams in the inter-corp, the other team did very well =P

inter-corp team b! we did great entering the finals, lol

alright! really looking forward to the next victory race! =P

wow, there's quite a number of sales and stuff on bargain the past week

first up was the IT fair, and i have to say that all the ones i have been to is nothing compared to this

the crowd was enormous, it took me 5 mins to walk a mere 20 meters, lol

they do have pretty good bargains over there tho

"wtf is with the S$50 headset?!" i know, i know, but it sounds really good!

i actually inteded to buy a ricoh camera that was going for S$99 and the benq lcd monitor

unfortunately, by the time i made it there on the 3rd day, both were sold out on the 1st & 2nd day >.<

crazy ppl, so much for recession eh? lol

adidas originals evolution at a damn good price! =D

managed to grab the last size 8 for these =P

the next is the adidas sales, supposedly ongoing throughout the weekend

i say they can start packing and leave on saturday, lol

cause' everything was pretty much snapped up by the time i made it on friday evening

got myself a bunch of junks and stuff at a bargain =P

the last i went is an in-line skating warehouse sales

they're kinda clearing out all the old stocks and some random stuff

they cut down prices to about 1/3 of the original price! wah!

this is by far the best bargain place i've been to, lol

grabbed quite a bit of random stuffs and a pair of cheap k2 skates in the end =P

i think i'm going back there today to get a skate bag for S$15, lol

bt timah "hike"

okay, same with east coast park, i don't think i've been to bukit timah before, lol

so i have a colleague who's supposed to hike mount kinabalu in april and he decided to come here for training

and you guessed it, i decided to tag along again, lol

(expect more of the same scenario in future posts =P)

alright, so it took us quite long to get to bukit timah with public transport in the first place

when we got there, i was expecting it to be like a 1 or 2 hours hike

to my surprise, that "hike" kinda ended up as a short-trek

we kinda finished the longest route for trekkers in like 25 mins.. okay.. lol

ooh look! summit path! right... =P

so that was quite... interesting, haha

well at least i know how bukit merah is like now

anyway, i'll stick to east coast park next time =P

skating @ east coast park

east coast park!

yeah, i've been to singapore like once a year for almost the past 20 years, and i haven't been here before!

good thing my colleagues were planning to skate there over the weekend, so i tagged along, lol

im actually taking pictures in a park? damn.. i really feel like a tourist, haha!

there's many ppl running, skating, cycling, camping, kids running around shouting

okay, so it's just a park on the east coast, yeah really, lol

what was i expecting.. =P

i like this =P

well, at least the park is well maintained, really smooth pavements makes it enjoyable to skate

also i notice there's like some auto-pulley wakeboarding thing in the park

might wanna give that a go sometime =P

aight, no more going on things with wheels!

i'm now dragonboatin'

well, my intention was really to check out this dragonboat thing since my cousin mentioned it to me once that ppl in it are really fit

so i kinda took this up before i decide to use the rest of my free time with nonsense =P

okay, reason also being that it's a low maintenance sport, money-wise (since i don't need to pay anything yet, lol)

all the empty docked boats and the paddle!

okay so it's not a joke about that "ppl in dragonboat are fit" part, lol

especially since dragonboat is a competitive sport, it's not the casual workout kind of thing

anyway, i joined the Hewlett-Packard Singapore Dragon Boat Team

there's a whole bunch of fun filled & happy ppl there, good stuff =P

all aboard for 2 hours of rowing!

okay, so the routine is to attend the sea training every saturday

and it also comes with gym training every tuesday and thursday (i didn't ask for this much!)

oh right, on top of that, since competition is near, there's training on sundays too!

waaaaahhh, i'm as good as roast pork under the sun, haha!

(oh mind you, there's 4 competition a year, lol, more sunday training >.<)

great japanese set @ beach road $4.80, i deserve this! =P

all in all, i get to hang out with fun-filled ppls, great sport, makes me fit and i get really tired on weekends, lol

oh well, a little late for the wishes as usual, lol

anyway, i was celebrating chinese new year in singapore with my family and relatives, great food, great ang pao, great times, stuff like that =P

don't know what happened to all those pictures my family and relatives took

lazy to choose and upload them anyway, i think got 700+ of them, wayyy too many >.<

so anyway, the week after that, i went with my colleagues to do some CNY charity

some of them have been doing this for the past few years already, so i just tagged along, nothing to do anyways =P

went to visit some of the old folks in some parts of singapore

gave them some ang paos, greet them and wish them happy new year, stuff like that

oh yeah, and after all that, my colleagues brought me to a hawker center at old airport road

they got quite some good food over here, like the 'giant prawn' noodles, char kuay teow, otak-otak and.... durian puffs + fried durian! muahahha!

all those goes very well with the sugarcane juice =P

visiting the national service camp

had a visit to one of singapore's national service camp

well, it's not like i just could pop by anytime i want and demand that i want to get in

just that my cousin is still enrolled and the camp he was in had an open day to friends and relatives

what's an army base without armored vehicles and tanks? =P

okay besides the showcase of armored vehicles and weapons, i was a little dissapointed that they didn't have something like a firing range or something close to live target practice, lol

i would've love that =P

oh well, i guess the free lunch and free flow of ice cream would have to do for such a hot day

oh look! i found them peanut helmets!

oh, but the obstacle course did get my attention! haha!

i came across an obstacle i haven't seen before, this particular one is called the "suicide window"

quite a big name, looks intimidating, but not really hard to do =P

yeah, that's probably because i ain't lugging around the army backpack and the rifle while doing it =P

up and over the "suicide window"

oh well, that's about it

quite fun and interesting, will be looking forward to some shooting action next time =P

oh yeah! my 6 months of holiday is officially over now that i have started going to office!

i have to say that things seems to be getting better and better

mainly the reason that i find work fun! ...well, at least for now, lol, never know when things are going to pick up and start getting hectic =P

oh, there is this "warm" welcoming orientation that the team had for me

basically they had me in a tele-conference meeting and left me there all alone to fend for myself while they're evilly chuckling and having fun in another meeting room nearby, tsk tsk

ohh... they're good, they caught it all on webcam! >.<

obviously i had no idea it was all a set-up

i mean like, who the hell does this at work anyway?? ...besides these people, lol

there is just no way to describe how relieved i was after i found out it was all a joke, really close to having a heart failure

anyway, with this, i foresee a very happy and fun team that i'll be working with up ahead =P

no more stress! back into happy mode again! lol

i guess i can't disclose too much stuff about work here, seems like hp is kind of strict with their privacy and legal issues, it's surely some scary stuff, lol
